Farmers singled out in new safety campaign

There is a new farm safety message being pushed, with SA Power Networks saying “What you don’t notice can kill you.”

SA Power Network Head of Corporate Affairs Paul Roberts says their new campaign urges farmers to keep clear of power lines.

This comes as around 20 power lines on farms are struck by farming machinery each year – along with countless near misses.

“We are making thousands of decisions basically on auto pilot, and we stop noticing things that actually could kill us, Mr Roberts says.

“So our campaign is about getting people engaged in actively thinking about the risk from Stobie poles which can go un-noticed on farms – with potentially disastrous consequences.”
