Matt Cameron Parts Ways with Pearl Jam after 27 Years

Legendary rock band Pearl Jam, announced that drummer, Matt Cameron, has parted ways with the band after 27 years together. It was announced this morning via a statement that Matt Cameron wrote on social media:

“After 27 fantastic years, I have taken my final steps down the drum riser for the mighty Pearl Jam. Much love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity to of a lifetime, one filled with friendships, artistry, challenges and laughter. I am forever grateful to the crew, staff and fans the world over. It’s been an incredible journey. More to follow. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Peace and Love, Matt Cameron”

Matt Cameron joined Pearl Jam after beginning his career with the bands Soundgarden and Skin Yard, joining Pearl Jam after Soundgardens initial break-up in 97″. He would eventually go on to replace Jack Irons, Pearl Jams drummer at the time, who left to focus on health and family. Cameron became the bands permanent drummer for their subsequent albums starting with Binaural (2000).

Cameron now departs his time with Pearl Jam as a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, two-time Grammy Award winner, and even listed as Rolling Stones 52nd Greatest Drummers of All Time.
