Alongside this gritty origin story, the central hub known as ‘The City’ is getting a neon-soaked nighttime aesthetic. The developers have wisely chosen to keep the popular city layout from last year, focusing their efforts instead on refining the actual basketball experience rather than making players memorise a new map.
NBA 2K27 is pushing hard on community-driven features, which means a lot of highly requested tweaks are finally making their way into the game. On the court, the AI defenders have been given a major boost. They will now contest shots more effectively and maintain better positioning in multiplayer modes like The REC. Offensively, a brand-new dynamic Dunk Meter will constantly evaluate defensive pressure from the moment your player jumps until the ball goes through the hoop.
