2K and Gearbox Software have officially revealed Borderlands 4 with an exciting new featurette, “Beyond the Borderlands #2 – Welcome to Kairos.” This latest look dives into the rich history, lore, and key factions of the planet Kairos, including the Outbounders, Augurs, and Electi.

On the planet Kairos, revolution is brewing. With multiple factions fighting for survival, the Outbounders—crash survivors stranded on the planet, the Augurs, descendants of the Timekeeper’s resource miners, and the Electi, the elite locked out of the city walls, all play a role in this chaotic world. The Vault Hunters are thrown into this volatile setting, where all roads lead to the Timekeeper, who maintains control using cybernetic implants known as “Bolts.”
Borderlands 4 will launch worldwide on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are available now! The game will also come to Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2025, with additional details to be announced soon.
