A truck driver has had a lucky escape after being rescued from floodwaters that engulfed his vehicle in outback South Australia.
The dramatic rescue unfolded yesterday afternoon near Yunta, as heavy rain inundated large parts of the region, triggering flash flooding and widespread road closures.
Footage shared online shows a LifeFlight rescue helicopter hovering above the stranded truck, with a crew member winched down onto the cabin. The driver was helped out of the vehicle before both were safely lifted into the helicopter.
Emergency services were called in as conditions deteriorated, with floodwaters continuing to rise across highways and outback roads.
The rescue comes as much of outback South Australia remains under the impact of heavy rainfall, with authorities urging motorists to avoid flooded roads and follow closure advice.
