As we head into winter, residents across The Spencer Gulf are being warned about the increased risk of fires around the home.
It comes as national claims data from NRMA Insurance reveals a 15% spike in winter house fires compared to autumn.
The insurer received more than 1,100 fire claims for home and contents in 2022 and has so far received nearly 300 claims in the first four months of this year.

Spokesperson, Natalie Major, says the most common causes of house fires relate to cooking, along with air conditioners, heating appliances and fireplaces.
