Since last Friday, round-the-clock security has been implemented at the Port Pirie Regional Health Service to increase support for healthcare workers.
Security guards will be onsite 24 hours a day, seven days a week for a six-month trial period while an ongoing security model is developed.
The decision comes after increased security was introduced at the Wallaroo Hospital earlier this month.

Duress alarms and training have also been provided for staff.
