In a bid to preserve the cultural and historical significance of cemeteries in the Port Pirie Region, the Port Pirie Regional Council has unveiled a 10-year Cemetery Strategy.
The plan aims to ensure that regional cemeteries have sufficient space to accommodate burials and cremations for the next 10 to 50 years and to allow for evolving community preferences, including natural burials and religious practices.
With ten cemeteries under its care, the council recognizes the need for tailored management for each.
The community is invited to provide feedback on this strategy on the Port Pirie Council website.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 16th.
