Two streets within the Port Pirie Cemetery have been officially named to recognise the enduring service of two well-known local families.
Connor Drive and Meschke Avenue will pay tribute to the Connor and Meschke families, who have provided funeral services to the Port Pirie region for over 80 years.
The naming follows a heartfelt request from Joy Mezzino, to honour her late brother Kevin Connor, and the families’ enduring contributions over the decades.
Mayor Leon Stephens said the move is a way for the community to say thank you.
“This recognition is about honouring the quiet strength and unwavering kindness shown by the Connor and Meschke families over many decades.”
Council will consider names for the remaining five unnamed roads at the Cemetery in a future workshop.
