Port Augusta City Council Have Launched the Access and Inclusion Program

The Port Augusta City Council is working with the Community Bridging Services have launched the Access and Inclusion Program, training individuals with disabilities necessary skills to obtain employment.

Port Augusta is among SA’s top six disadvantaged communities, still faces high unemployment rates.

The 26-week program, extendable to 52 weeks, currently has 12 participants.

Training participants for various council positions, the program equips them with job knowledge and skills for various departments including within the office, depot operations and the cafe.

Unemployed individuals can apply through Community Bridging Services, with a modified interview process ensuring a supportive experience.

Port Augusta City Council chief executive John Banks said the council aims to combat generational unemployment by fostering inclusivity and providing job readiness training.

Their vision includes expanding the program to other employers.
