New Research Uncovered Escalating Risks by Drivers on Our Rural and Regional Roads

New research released for Rural Road Safety Month has uncovered the escalating risks being taken by drivers on our rural and regional roads.

More than half of all drivers (51%) admitted to breaking rules when travelling on regional roads, like speeding (41%), using their phone (13%) and crossing a double line (11%).

Alarmingly, a quarter of drivers (25%) say they’ve struggled to stay focused due to fatigue with 1 in 5 admitting to ‘pushing on’ when they were feeling tired.

Russell White from the Australian Road Safety Foundation says the findings are a major concern at a time when the regional road toll continues to soar.
