The District Council of Orroroo Carrieton is addressing a childcare deficit by offering a $5,000 startup grant to potential Family Day Care (FDC) providers.
This move comes as they await State Government action on childcare recommendations.
A 2022 survey revealed a demand for 12 daily long daycare spots, with over 70% indicating they’d work or study if they had access to childcare.

Providers need childcare certification, and their homes must be assessed.
The grant covers initial setup costs, upskilling, and equipment, with a 12-month service commitment.
