The SA Country Fire Service are conducting a series of simulated aerial firefighting drills for this week, which will simulate bushfire smoke around the Wirrabara Range Conservation Park area.
Until Friday, smoke cannisters will be used to simulate active bushfires at as part of the exercise for surveillance and firebombing aircraft.
Approximately 20 CFS personel are involved in the training program – including four new members who will be qualified in the airborne tactical coordination of firebombing missions.
Training will occur from approximately 0900 to 1630 each day from the Port Pirie Aerodrome.
