The Barunga West Council is offering a special incentive to attract first home buyers.
They’ve voted to provide a $500 rebate on rates for the first two years, following the state governments eliminated stamp duty for first home buyers.
The council expects to put 300 affordable housing blocks on the market soon and believes the rates rebate will attract more young families to the area.

The move is designed to reduce financial pressure on ratepayers with real estate agents apparently already seeing interest in the rebate, hoping it will add to the appeal of the region for first home buyers.
