Barunga West Council is pushing for more accurate road traffic counts to be conducted at peak times of the year.
The move is part of the council’s campaign for critical repairs to Upper Yorke Road, between Bute and Port Broughton.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport said data from its traffic counter showed the road carried an average of 700 vehicles a day, but the council wants traffic counts to be conducted in summer during harvest and the peak tourism period to accurately reflect the use of the road.
