Our services

As a multifunctional regional council, we manage childcare services, a library, airport, cemetery / crematorium, visitor centre, and infrastructure and recreational facilities. Sitting across all of this are our Mayor and nine Elected Members, who set the strategic direction for the entire Council. As well as setting strategy, policies and budgets, their role includes city leadership; attending meetings and briefings; representing Council; and ensuring the community is represented.

The CEO and Council employees are then responsible for the delivery and management of the strategic plan and budget through our various services / functions. This provides employment for a significant number of locals.
