A third man has been extradited from New South Wales as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged violent aggravated robbery at a rural property on the St Vincent Highway in Yorketown last year.
On Thursday, 29 October, Yorke Mid North detectives, assisted by New South Wales Police, arrested a 37-year-old man in Broken Hill before bringing him back to South Australia.
He has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated robbery, aggravated causing harm, and unlawful detention, and faced court following his extradition.
Police allege that on 23 February 2025, three men targeted the rural home, threatening the 74-year-old occupant with a firearm.
During the home invasion, the victim was unlawfully detained and suffered head injuries requiring treatment at hospital.
The intruders allegedly stole 14 firearms and approximately one million dollars in cash.
All three suspects were intercepted by New South Wales Police the following day in a white Hyundai van on the Barrier Highway near Broken Hill. Officers allegedly recovered the 14 stolen firearms, a large quantity of cash, and other items linked to the Yorketown break-in.
The 37-year-old’s arrest follows the previous extradition of two co-accused men, aged 55 and 51, who were arrested in March in connection with the same investigation.
Police state that investigations are continuing. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
