A 66-year-old Cowell man has died following a serious crash on the Eyre Peninsula, which also left a woman in hospital and led to the arrest of another driver.
Emergency services were called to the Lincoln Highway at Midgee, north of Cowell, just after 10:30am yesterday, following a collision between a ute and a station wagon.
The local man died at the scene. His passenger, a 65-year-old woman, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 29-year-old man from Port Augusta, sustained minor injuries. He was later arrested and charged with causing death and harm by dangerous driving.
He has been bailed to appear in court in August.
The crash has lifted South Australia’s road toll to 52 for the year.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
