Port Pirie’s Globe Oval has a new lease on life, with Solomontown Football Club expressing their interest in the facility.
Port Pirie Mayor Leon Stephens says the oval hasn’t been used to it’s full potential for a while, and the Council started seeking expressions of interest for the facility last year.
“Solomontown Football Club was the only club that actually came back with an expression of interest on trying to do something there, Mayor Stephens says.
“They would like to have a crack at building a new clubroom over there, and just developing the oval as their training oval.”
The Council are excited about the new opportunity, and the expression of interest was approved.
“That was approved by the elected members and they’ve put together a little working thing to actually work with Solomontown Football Club to ensure that all the questions that are asked of them… are answered as well.
“That is a big tick.”
