A panel of professionals sampled traditional fruit, chocolate, and gluten-free varieties from Coles, Woolworths, IGA, Aldi, Bakers Delight, and Costco, aiming to uncover the top contenders in this year’s tasty contest.

In the battle of the traditional fruit bun, Woolworths emerged victorious for the second year running with their Luxurious Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns, boasting an impressive expert rating of 72%. These buns are packed with cranberries, candied orange peel, and cinnamon myrtle, earning them the crown for flavour and quality.

But let’s not forget the chocolate enthusiasts! Bakers Delight’s Choc Chip Hot Cross Buns secured a spot on the recommended list with a toasted score of 78%, offering a delicious blend of sweetness and spice.
