Winner of over 250 Game of the Year awards, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven, open-world adventure set in a dark fantasy universe. If you own a PC, Xbox or PS4 there's a good chance you've already played this epic adventure, now it's available to people who own the Nintendo Switch console and although the port across to the system is good considering the technical restrictions it's days of winning awards might just be over.
You play as Geralt of Rivia in a gigantic open-world adventure that has a rich fantasy tone for around 150 hours of gameplay. Using your twin swords, potions, and powerful magic to defeat the monsters that plague the land as only you can and your kind can.
This is the Complete Edition as well so it contains every piece of downloadable content released for the game, including two massive story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine.
It's enough to get you excited for the game all over again, and while you are playing in the handheld mode of the Nintendo Switch console you will forgive the slight graphic adjustments they have made to fit the entire game on a small cartridge. After all, the gameplay is more than just graphics.. right?
That is until you plug the system into your TV and see the world unfold in a horrible mess that makes the game look more like an Xbox 360 generation title essentially taking a 4-year-old game and making it look like it's 14 years old. The switch just simply doesn't have the ability to do quality HD, add to that the downgraded textures and the objects drawn in the distance popping in and out and it just shows that this title is just far too complex for the machine.
If you are playing the game on the go in handheld mode I think you'll be happy with the story and elements that immerse you in such a way you will forget about the faults.
I'd suggest if you want the large screen experience grab a copy of the game which is now in discount bins everywhere.
