There are perks to living in the Southern hemisphere: big movies come out earlier, supervillains almost never think of us when planning their grand schemes, and we've got the song "Down Under". The downside is waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.
Every year I look forward to comedian and The Good Place writer Demi Adejuyibe's September 21st videos - one of the purset things on the internet. We obviously got to experience the 21st yesterday, but the States have only just clocked over - and this year's video is a doozy...
After five years, the clips have grown in scope and ambition, but have remained true to the core elements: the one continuous shot, dancing, a ludicrous remix of Earth Wind & Fire's "September" where the lyrics are all about how it's the 21st of the month, and a musical instrument that launches confetti.
Since 2018 Demi has used the event to support charity, with this year's video attempting to raise US $50,000 to support five different charities. As of writing, they've almost tripled their target. This success will surely lock him into many more videos for years to come. Only 364 days till the next one!
