New Biosecurity Measures for Wine Regions

grapes.jpgThe State Government is providing $75,000 towards a nation-leading project which will see South Australian vineyard biosecurity launched into a new digital era.

The development of a Digital Biosecurity Platform will provide real-time data on vineyards in places like the Clare Valley to enhance responses to devastating diseases and pests.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone says the platform will provide the wine and grape sector with advanced technology to meet serious biosecurity threats.

He says South Australia is in the enviable position of being phylloxera free and this status enables our wine regions to maintain some of the oldest vines in the world.
