Port Pirie is set to be home to a new $60 million abattoir, bringing over 215 direct jobs to the region.
Pirie Meats will build SA’s only multi-species dedicated service-processing facility to generate new business opportunities and regional employment.
Construction on the facility at Warnertown is planned to commence mid-year with the plant to begin processing approximately 12 months later.
The facility will employ over 200 people with the possibility for a flow on effect for jobs in other related industries.
Pirie Meats CEO Reg Smyth says the plant is desperately needed in South Australia and the company believes Port Pirie is the ideal place to build.
