Yorke Mid North Police have arrested two women for being unlawfully on premises after they were located on a freight train about 4pm Sunday afternoon.

A 22-year-old Victorian woman and 21-year-old foreign national were discovered in a rear carriage of the train, which was transporting steel from Port Augusta to Sydney.

After sighting an unauthorised person on the train, the rear driver alerted police and stopped the train in Yunta, where police found the women in a small alcove, exposed to the elements.

The women were taken to the Yunta Police Station, where they charged and later issued with adult cautions.
