Tourism Boom for the YP

yp.jpgRecord tourist numbers in SA are providing a boost to our local economy with the state’s visitor economy soaring to an all-time-high of $6.9 billion.

From June 2016 to June 2018, the Yorke Peninsula had an annual average of 522,000 domestic visitors who spent $149 million.

Another 620,000 people visited for a day trip on average each year and spent $51 million.

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Manager Brooke Liebelt says 99% of visitors to the region were from Australia with 88% of those coming from South Australia.

Acting Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Pisoni says the results are pleasing and a testament to the hard work and passion of thousands of local tourism operators.
