Northern Areas Out-foxing the Foxes for Spring

fox.jpgThe Northern Areas Council is getting ready for the spring influx of foxes by distributing fox bait to landholders in preparation for the coordinated baiting program this spring.

1080 fox baits will be supplied to landholders at a discounted rate to maximise positive agricultural and environmental outcomes.

A spokesperson from Natural Resources North and Yorke says Spring baiting is often overlooked by landholders.

Baiting in spring can help to reduce the population of foxes reaching maturity which results in a compounded effect on the local fox population.

Towards the end of the lambing season the visible effects of foxes become less noticeable, with lambs and struggling ewes no longer being targeted.

Landholders can register and pre-order 1080 baits to be a part of the program, there are distribution points across the Northern and Yorke region.

To register for the program or for more information please contact Natural Resources Northern and Yorke on 8841 3400, email [email protected] or visit http://www.naturalresources.sa.gov.au/northernandyorke.
