Residents of Hawker and Kimba have had their say about the selection process for the proposed National Radioactive Waste Management Facility.
The Senate’s Economics References Committee held the public meetings last week to discuss the two nominated sites in Kimba and the Wallerberdina Station site.
Those for and against the proposal were given equal opportunity to voice their opinions and present to the council.
Many people in attendance said it was promising to see the government working to deliver potential employment opportunities for Aboriginal people but concerns were raised over the lack of detail provided.
The Senate is due to release its findings on August 14, just six days prior to the commencement of the postal ballot that will determine community support for the three nominated sites.
