The recent suspension of surgical services at Balaklava Hospital has raised concerns for Member for Frome Geoff Brock.
Surgery at the hospital has been suspended until March, forcing patients to travel to the nearby Clare Hospital for treatment.
Mr Brock has stated that visiting specialists perform approximately 10 procedures and close to 60 consultations, across a two-day period on a regular basis.
These trips enable regional patients to be seen by a specialist in their communities instead of having to travel to Adelaide, offering consequent economic benefit.
Mr Brock said vulnerable rural communities could not afford to lose more services, particularly essential medical care and surgeries and is still awaiting a response from the Minister in regards to his concerns.
