On Saturday, police and fire crews responded to reports of a fire at a maisonette in Pickhaver Street in Whyalla Stuart.
The house was significantly damaged by fire, but MFS crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjoining premises.
Local crime scene investigators and CIB detectives have identified arson to be the cause of the fire.
CCTV shows a man approaching the premises on a bicycle and throwing a Molotov cocktail.
The offender appeared to have accidentally set his own arm on fire as he fled the scene.
On Monday patrols and fire crews were called to another property in Whyalla after reports that a woman’s house had been set alight.
It is believed that the house was unoccupied at the time, and there were no reports of any injuries.
At a nearby property a 22-year-old man who was known to the victim was arrested.
The Whyalla Stuart man will face numerous charges including arson and property damage.
He appeared in the Whyalla Magistrates Court yesterday.
