A big gum tree has reportedly landed on a fence and home in Port Pirie amid damaging winds on Tuesday night.
Following the collapse, residents say termites had compromised the tree and something should have been done about it earlier.
Residents had apparently discussed the tree in the days before the incident, with bad weather forecast and previous instances of fallen branches dating back a decade.
Council chief executive officer, Peter Ackland, says in 2011 there was a request to cut a branch because it was considered to be dangerous, which was undertaken by council.
And again on Christmas Day in 2019, a big branch fell onto the footpath which prompted discussion about disposing of the tree.
The SES are removing the fallen tree from the property.
