Over the weekend in the local footy, a string of close matches played out in the SGL.

Port carried on West's no win run at Central Oval, 82 to 73.

Centrals got a big win against top of the ladder PropRisdon, 49 to 30.

And South closed the gap on the ladder between them and Solomontown, defeating Sollies in a nail-biting one point victory, 59 to 58.

Another nail biter went down across the bridge on Saturday - West Whyalla getting on top of Central by just one point at the final siren, 52 to 51.

However the WFL matches on Friday night and Sunday were not quite as tense, Weeroona Bay shutting out South, 97 to 17, and Roopena doing the same to North, 58 to 3.

A close one also played out on the Yorke Peninsula, Central Yorke getting the job done against the CMS Crows, with just a two point margin at the final siren, 64 to 62.

Southern Eagles defeated Bute, 64 to 49, Moonta made short work of Paskeville, 100 to 31, and Wallaroo came out on top against Ardrossan, 82 to 55.

In the Northern Areas, top of the ladder Broughton-Mundoora defeated Crystal Brook, 75 to 47.

And it was a good weekend for the bottom of the ladder teams as well, with Jamestown-Peterborough adding to their winners tally, coming out on top against Southern Flinders, 73 to 45, and BMW defeated Orroroo, 50 to 42.

The NEFL's two top teams faced off this week, with BSR getting the job done against MinMan, 70 to 60.

RSMU defeated South Clare, 61 to 42, North Clare defeated BBH, 78 to 63, and Southern Saints overpowered bottom of the ladder Blyth-Snowtown, 83 to 37.
