The ageing Pine Creek Bridge at Laura will get a new lease on life following a federal investment of nearly $3 million.
One of three bridges in the Mid-North that will be upgraded thanks to a $7.8 million funding injection from the federal government’s Bridges Renewal Program, the old Pine Creek Bridge will be upgraded and widened.
Back in November last year then-Member for Frome, Geoff Brock, expressed concern about the condition of the 70 year old bridge located on Appila-Laura Road.
Northern Areas Council Mayor, Ben Browne, says the upgrade will be put out for tender as soon as possible and he hopes to work towards completing the upgrade before harvest.
He also says this announcement is important for the primary producers north of the bridge extending up to Melrose, Orroroo and the Flinders.
