Federal Member for Grey, Rowan Ramsey, has responded to a recent article reporting on his use of parliamentary allowances while travelling.
The report focuses on a property Mr Ramsey owns in Adelaide, and will occasionally stay at while travelling between Canberra and his home in Kimba, for which he claims the allowance.
Mr Ramsey says the report was misleading and the payments aren't necessarily for the accommodation itself, going on to say, "The payment is about a bit over a hundred bucks now. It's for extra out of pocket expenses you experience for being away from home; extra food costs and things like that. I think that payment is kind of generous, which is why I only claim one-in-four of them. It's a complete fit-up, and yeah I'm pretty peeved about it all."
