Supermarket Scan Scammers Beware

local news

New self-serve scan technology is being rolled out across major Supermarket retailers. According to reports, Woolworths has rolled out new self-serve checkout scan systems at almost 700 of its 1000 stores across Australia, with some suggesting it'll make for a more convenient shopping experience, assisting in easy identification of various products.

The new technology, fitted with camera technology can identify products as they are scanned, with an alert if a customer inputs incorrect information at the checkout. According to Woolworths, any vision captured by the new technology is recorded or stored. The new technology uses artificial intelligence, and some commentators are hailing it as a great loss prevention tactic for the Supermarket sector.
