Member for Stuart, Dan van Holst Pellekaan, is officially South Australia's new Deputy Premier, after a vote of Lower House Liberal MPs yesterday afternoon.
He was sworn in at a ceremony with the Governor on Tuesday as an interim administrative measure following Vickie Chapman's resignation.
Ms Chapman handed her resignation to Premier Steven Marshall on Sunday afternoon, while the state ombudsman investigates her conduct around the decision to not allow the construction of a port at Kangaroo Island.
Premier Steven Marshall congratulated Mr van Holst Pellekaan in a press conference after the party room ballot.
MPs went into the room yesterday afternoon with two candidates flagged, Mr Pellekaan and Environment Minister David Speirs, to which Mr van Holst Pellekaan says it was an amicable contest.
