A Whyalla music teacher has been recognised as a finalist for the Best Music Educator Award at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards (SAM), set to be held in Adelaide today (November 18).

For over 25 years, Alison Hams has combined her own career as a Country Music songwriter and performer with her dedication to young people and music education, as co-owner of Stormfront Productions, a founder of the Whyalla Recording Scholarship and Band Programme Director at Samaritan College.

Her combination of formal qualifications and huge real world music industry experience has been noted in this nomination.

The 2021 SAM Awards will be held at the Old Adelaide Gaol, and provide an opportunity to recognise those, both on stage and behind the scenes, who are helping the SA music industry survive through on-going Covid restrictions.
