Two employment programs aimed at job seekers in Whyalla and Port Augusta are set to be launched by the Local Jobs Program, an initiative of the Federal Government's Covid recovery plan.
The two local recovery projects being rolled out are Jobs 4 Locals, which is a pre-employment program, and Strong Women for Work, aimed at female First Nations jobseekers.
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment and the state Department of Employment and Skills are funding the Jobs 4 Locals program which will be run by Career Co, Career Employment Group and Centacare.
The program has four pillars:
- Industry skills training
- Physical rehabilitation assessment and a personalised training plan
- Personal development through the Centacare Coach model of support
- Industry collaboration
