Running club, the Whyalla Harriers, have planted more than 200 trees around the Windy Loo and Point Lowly campgrounds thanks to support provided to the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board (EPLB).
After their weekly run late last month the runners stuck around to assist with the planting, along with several local shack owners and tourists.
The trees which were grown by a Whyalla Trees for Life volunteer, are part of a Whyalla City Council grassroots grants project.
Under the grant, the council is justifying and or closing tracks, and revegetating vehicle-impacted areas on the town’s Northern Coastline as part of the Eyes on Eyre initiative.
There will also be more trees planted along the coastline south of Whyalla as part of the Saltmarsh Threat Abatement and Recovery (STAR) project.
