The Whyalla City Council’s 2021-22 annual business plan and budget draft is open for community consultation.
Within the draft budget the council is proposing a one-off rate increase of 5.6 percent to bolster its financial position.
The one-off increase of 2 per cent, on top of the usual 3.6 per cent, for 2021-22 would mean a total increase on average of about 71 dollars in the upcoming financial year.
Council says updating the rates will help capitalise on exciting opportunities, such as first-class sporting events at Bennett Oval, increasing Cuttlefish experiences and beginning the much-anticipated foreshore redevelopment.
A copy of the draft is available to view at the council office, or find it here: whyalla.sa.gov.au/council/publicconsultation
Public information evening tonight, May 4 at 6pm, Mount Laura Homestead Museum
All submissions and comments to be received by Friday, May 21.
The council will adopt its annual business plan and budget in June.
