The Clare Valley has a brand-new addition to the entrance way.
The plane on a pole is the Clare Valley Aerodrome’s new wind vane.
Used for indicating wind direction, a wind vane is one of the oldest meteorological instruments.
This is however a very sculputral/intricate version of the equipment, the plane and propeller not only move with the wind, but at night solar navigation is used and the cockpit lights up.
The full-size Tobago TB10 plane is a French made trainer plane and was donated by Flight Training Adelaide.
