Fire Burn season is approaching and the Copper Coast Council are urging farmers to jump aboard their new conditional permit scheme.
Conditional Permits are issued every year to farmers who require their land to be burnt-off for the coming season. An update in their systems has made it easier to alert the Council and the public of prescribed burn-offs happening nearby, available HERE.
As part of the permit conditions, Council must be notified for each intent to burn. Permit holders will still be prohibited from lighting fires;
on Total Fire Ban days;
Saturdays, Sundays or Public Holidays;
when prevailing winds will create smoke hazard to road users, or a nuisance to townships;
And before 10am - with the proviso that it must be extinguished by 9pm;
These permits will be implemented from the 1st of March until 30 April 2021, anyone without a permit will not be allowed to light a fire. Council encourages the community to check their alert system before contacting emergency services about a fire.
All Permits must be obtained from the Kadina Council Office. More information available HERE.
