Late last week, Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis announced to the Parliament that he would suspend his Liberal Party Membership following the ICAC investigation into the Country Members Travel Allowance.

Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, Amanda Vanstone, in a statement released on Friday, confirmed Fraser Ellis had been charged with 23 alleged counts of deception, and was served a summons to appear at Adelaide's Magistrate's Court on March 31st.

The Member for Narungga says he will fight the charges, and remain in parliament in the meantime but not as a member of the Liberal Party.

Mr Ellis' resignation leaves the Liberal Party with a minority government of just 22 MPs in the House of Assembly.
