A man in Stirling North has been hit with a whopping $2000 penalty for possessing more than a commercial quantity of razorfish.

The courts have ordered the man pay the fine after South Australian Police found 175 razorfish hearts in his possession, well over the total possession limit of 100 fish.

Along with the fine, the man has been prohibited from possessing razorfish for 12 months, lost his fishing gear and has had a conviction recorded against his name.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, David Basham, encourages recreational fishers to report any wrongdoing to authorities on the Fishwatch hotline, which you can find at our website.
