AFL will return to Whyalla in 2021, with Bennett Oval set to host Port Power taking on Carlton on Sunday, February 23 in a pre season match.
It's the 2nd time in as many years AFL will be played in the Steel City, earlier this year a big crowd watched the Power down the Western Bulldogs by 10pts at the same venue.
Significant upgrades to Bennett Oval, coupled with GFG Alliance's sponsorship of the Power are thought to have played a key role in the decision.
The Spencer Gulf has been in favour with the AFL in recent years, with Port Pirie hosting a pre season Showdown between the Power & Crows in scorching conditions in 2018. Port Augusta will be hoping they can lure the AFL in 2022 following significant investment in the City's major sporting hub, Central Oval.
Ticketing details for the Power/Carlton clash will be released closer to the start of the fixture in 2021.
