Police have arrested a Maitland man following a break-in at Parafield Gardens.

The occupant of a house at Parafield Gardens reported his property having been broken into and his Commodore station wagon being stolen.

Later that day, a member of the public reported the same stolen Commodore driving erratically on the Yorke Highway at Clinton. Patrols quickly converged on the area and set up cordons, locating the station wagon dumped in Arthurton. Investigations led police to the suspect who was arrested nearby.

Further investigations identified the same person allegedly involved in the theft of a Toyota 4WD which was stolen from a Maitland business earlier this month.

The 29-year-old from Maitland has been charged with multiple offences and appeared in Court yesterday.

The Commodore has been returned to the victim however, the Toyota 4WD, registration number S096BIL, remains outstanding.

SAPOL are asking anyone with information about the theft of the Toyota to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
