A Moonta Bay motorcyclist has been caught travelling 90km over the speed limit.
Police attempted to stop the motorcyclist at Kadina for traffic offences, when he sped off allegedly travelling at 140km in a 50km zone whilst failing to give way.
Once located Police checks on the man’s licence revealed that he was disqualified from driving and was charged for aggravated dangerous riding to cause police pursuit, drive disqualified and driving unregistered and uninsured.
The man’s bike was impounded for 28 days and an application will be made through court for the bike’s forfeiture.
The man will appear court at a later date.
Sergeant Tristan Graham from Highway Patrol said “It is increasingly frustrating that this motorcyclist has decided to put the lives of an entire community at significant risk through his irresponsible decision to take off from police at a deadly high speed.”
“With 14 motorcycle riders and 2 passengers lives lost on our roads this year, it is crucial for all motorists including motorcycle riders to drive responsibly and stop putting others at risk.”
