Port Pirie Regional Council are reminding locals of a temporary road closure that will commence on Monday.
The closure will occur on a section of Old Broughton Road, Wandearah and is due to the installation of a new floodway.
The closure is expected to remain in place for approximately 6 - 7 weeks.
During this time, Old Broughton Road between Exchange Road and River Road will be closed to traffic and all vehicles will be detoured via the Spencer Highway.
The works will replace the overflow channel for the Broughton River where it crosses Old Broughton Road with a new floodway to reduce the risk of blockages in times of flooding.
Work zone traffic management signage will be in place during the works directing traffic and advance warning signs have been installed informing motorists of the upcoming works.
The works have been made possible due to allocated funds from Port Pirie Regional Council’s 2020/21 Capital Works budget.
