LOCAL RESIDENTS and BUSINESSES are being reminded about the imminent closure of the nation’s 3G mobile networks which will begin from the middle of next month.
Older 3G devices and some older 4G phones may be impacted from December 15 when TPG Telecom begins to phase out 3G services, followed by Telstra and Optus next year.
Devices that aren’t upgraded may no longer be able to make calls to triple-zero and it could also affect a range of devices such as EFTPOS machines and some medical alarms.
Louise Hyland from the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association says it’s important people with older phones and devices act now to stay connected.
