Port Augusta City Council has acquired two state-of-the-art portable defibrillation units that will be available for community members to borrow free of charge during local events and functions.
The aim is to enhance emergency response capabilities and empower individuals to take quick action in life-threatening situations.
Mayor Linley Shine highlighted the importance of prompt access to defibrillation in saving lives, as sudden cardiac arrest remains a leading cause of death globally.
The easy-to-use defibrillation units feature intuitive instructions and voice prompts to guide users through the resuscitation process.
Equipped with advanced technology, these units can analyze a patient’s condition and deliver a precisely calibrated electric shock if needed.
CEO John Banks expressed the council’s commitment to providing a sense of security for the community by having these defibrillation units readily available.
Community members hosting events in the Port Augusta region can now loan these units if the event location lacks its own defibrillation equipment.
